Joe Gudonis brought a video recording from the “archives.” Recorded at a meeting several years ago, the video featured Bill Crothers, who spoke about seizing, worming, parceling, and serving a rope. He then showed a 1”=50' scale model of the circa 1850 naval vessel USS Mississippi. Bill spent his career as a naval architect.
Show N' Tell
Summary and Photos to be published on the website.
The Secretary's report and Treasurer's report were accepted.
Ship Model Shack
Joe Jordan identified open dates in April and noted those who volunteered. A discussion followed on the rewards of meeting visitors while manning the shack, and the importance of additional members volunteering.
Northeast Regional Conference
There will be nine people attending, and those members have invested significant time in preparation. There is also a need for additional members to assist in setup on Saturday morning. There is a dinner Friday night at “Go Fish” where final plans will be discussed. For those needing transportation there are still open seats via car pooling. Availability of hotel rooms may be the biggest challenge.
Web Site Issues
Several members complained of a wide variety of issues from not being able to access the new URL, to inconsistency between mobile devices, to being routed to the old site instead, not receiving password reset emails, etc. Until users are consistently able to access the new web site, important content will also be delivered via email.
All issues and problems must be documented in an email to Brian Padnes, web site administrator, who will consolidate them, assist where possible, and meet with the developer for resolution. Obviously, the more information you can provide the more quickly the problem can be resolved. Please do this as soon as possible, even if you have already reported an issue. Brian's email is Brian.Padnes@gmail.com
Participation in the March 20 Miniature Show
A team from PSMS attended this show and displayed smaller scale ship models. All other displays were of doll houses.
Parking for PSMS Monthly Meetings
The new process using the volunteer parking passes has proven to be a good solution.
The next meeting of the PSMS will be held on May 5, 2016.
The May program will feature Hal Taylor, who wrote the book “An Illustrated Guide to the Delaware River.”
